Tasty Tuesday

Hey everyone! I'm going to make this post short and sweet. Haha. Pun intended. I'm feeling a little under the weather today. Well, my throat is feeling under the weather today. I'm going to the doctor at 10am so I can get these bumps on the back of my throat checked out. Anywho, todays Tasty Treat comes from the blog Taste and Tell. It's a Red Velvet Cheese Ball! Derek made one for me with yellow cake on Sunday and all though it wasn't as pretty as the red velvet it definitely tasted just as good.
Red Velvet Cheese Ball
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours, 15 minutes
Yield: 16 servings
The ultimate dip for red velvet lovers!! This sweet version of a cheeseball will have you going back for more!
Ingredients
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups red velvet cake mix, dry
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • assorted cookies and crackers (my favorite was Vanilla Wafers)
Instructions
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add in the red velvet cake mix, the brown sugar and the powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and combined.
  • Turn the mixture out onto a piece of plastic wrap. Wrap up into a ball and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Put the chocolate chips on a plate or in a shallow dish. Remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator and unwrap. Roll in the chocolate chips. (This might get messy!) Place on a serving plate and serve with cookies or graham crackers.
Hope you all enjoy this tasty treat! Pictures from this weekend are coming this afternoon....hopefully.

A Complete Waste of Makeup Link Up

Ok, So I'm linking up with "A Complete Waste of Makeup" today so I can get my blog out there to a few more readers. Not that I don't LOVE everyone that reads my blogs daily. I would love to hear some more ideas from more people. So here I am...linking up.

So, I started blogging when I found out I was pregnant. I blogged to remember everything that had happened in the time from when I found out I was pregnant to my whirlwind wedding and then more while I was pregnant. It started out being something fun to do so I could write down my thoughts, it's now evolved into keeping me sane by letting me talk about everything, share pictures, share ideas, and meet awesome new people.

My blog now has structure and I hope to keep posting daily(ish) about given topics. (Made Up Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Does It Work Wednesday, Thrift Thursday & Friday Confessions). I want to help people with not only their day to day life but I want to help with makeup tips and beauty secrets. Not to mention post pictures for all my family members that don't live close by.

If you don't know much about me and you are reading this as your very first Glitter & Ink post...well you are in for a treat. I'm 25 years old. Mommy to a 3 year old little guy named Stratton that I absolutely adore. My husband is a tattooed teddy bear. I also have a hairless cat named Groucho. He is my little snuggle buddy. I don't like to sugar coat things. I like to tell it like it is. I'm from a small town but I don't live like a small town girl. At least I don't think I do. If you want to read more about me you can read some more here.

I work as a Graphic Artist at a cable company. Not like Charter or DirectTV but like music cables. It's a fun job and I enjoy making art for a living. I work with my family...well my husbands family. My husband works as a sales rep as well as my brother-in-law Garrett. My other brother-in-law Josh is my boss. My mother-in-law and father-in-law also work here as presidents of the company.
I live in Jackson, Missouri. It's a small town, but I love it. I grew up one town over in Cape Girardeau but moved here when Derek and I started dating. I like that we live in a smaller town. The traffic is never bad, it's always quiet, and you can actually see the stars at night but, you it only takes 10 min to get to WalMart from my house. Which is nice.

I love Geocaching. It's kind of a dorky past time but it's so much fun....for me at least. If you don't know what Geocaching is you should look it up. It's a great way to get out of the house and explore places you wouldn't normally go. I also LOVE designing for my friends blogs. If you or anyone you know is wanting a blog make over let me know. I would LOVE to make some new pretty blogs!

Monday Confessions

Last week was crazy on Thursday and Friday. I apologize. I had a big assignment due on Friday and it pretty well consumed my week. Not to mention I screwed up my blog the other day and had to completely redo the whole thing in like 2 hours. Bleh! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I know I did. I'll share with you on the next post. As I seemed to have forgot to do my Friday confessions, here they are now.

I confess I love watching cartoons. I watch them even when Stratton isn't around. It's my guilty pleasure.

I confess I love watching my strange addiction too. It grosses me out and amazes me all at the same time.

I confess that next month I will doing another shopping fast. I really liked how I felt after I did the last shopping fast and I think it is really rewarding to see how much money you save when you don't buy the "stuff" you don't really need.

I confess I had such a great time this weekend helping the OTA raise money at the Trivia Night in St Louis this past weekend. I got to meet some really nice people and got to spend some quality time with my mom, dad, and Stratton.

I confess I have once again become addicted to The Sims. I got the free version on my phone and I love playing it. It's sad I know and Derek makes fun of me for playing it but I don't care. I love it.

I confess I got a new face wash from BareMinerals and I can't wait to share it with you!

I confess I watched the Grammy's last night and, for one, I loved Taylor Swifts performance. Secondly, as much as I hate to admit it, I thought Nicki Minaj's performance (although it was SUPER blasphemous) was kind of catchy...minus the whole priest/confession/exorcist theme.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! Stay turned for a picture dump!

Made Up Monday

So this is my first ever Made Up Monday! Are you all excited? I kinda am.
I have been more and more excited to try new makeup and new beauty products as I have aged. Haha aged. I like to look put together now a days. It's kind of nice to put your face on in the morning when you're not looking/feeling that hot and look somewhat ok when you're finished. I at least feel better once I get a fresh face on. There's a little bit of a reward when what you put on looks good with what you're wearing for the day.

Today I am wearing several different shades. I love experimenting with new colors and new ways to put on makeup. Here is today's look.
Gray: BareMinerals - Do No Disturb (from the Honeymoon Phase Duo) Gold: Sunset Blvd by KVD White: First Class by KVD Eyeliner: Sephora Liquid Liner Mascara: they're real! by Benefit
The finished look topped off with a nice shade of Kat Von D lipstick in Coral Castle
Sunset Blvd by Kat Von D

First Class by Kat Von D
Honeymoon Duo by BareMinerals Do Not Disturb Gray and Giddy Pink
The Gold is perfect with this smokey gray color. It's got bigger flecks  of gold in it so it makes your eyes really sparkle! I love it because...well I love glittery stuff. The key to making the gold go well with the gray is blending. Make sure you use a clean brush and blend away between the two shades.

The white sparkly color called First Class is the perfect high lighting color for ANY makeup. It's mostly white so it blends really nicely with any color without overpowering it.

I love this look. It's really classy looking without being over the top. The thing I love about the Do Not Disturb gray color is that it has a little bit of a gold tint to it. Not to mention that it's gray not black. You can make a smokey eye without looking like you got punched.

I like to give myself a little bit of a cat eye when I wear the more bold eye shadows. The perfect way to do this is with a liquid liner. It's SO much easier to get that wispy line on the corners of your eyes. Practice makes perfect. If you're not very good at putting on liner, keep trying. It took me forever to get mine to look presentable.

Last is the mascara. I love this new mascara I got called They're Real! I did a whole post on them here if you would like to check it out. They really do give you some great lashes!

Hope you all like my first Made Up Monday. It isn't going to be just makeup talk here. I plan on doing some outfits, hair styles, nail polish and maybe even some vlogs on how to apply. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!

Much Better

It's not 100% but it will have to do for now. Bah! I hate when I hit things I'm not supposed to!

Crap!

I messed up. My blog is a mess right now and I'm trying really hard to fix it. Bear with me as it might be hard to read my blog with some of the changes that I'm going to be making. Pray that I can fix this fast!

Does it Work Wednesday

Yes, I realize that the local news station has a does it work Wednesday but gosh darn it has a ring to it.
Today I'm going to tell you all about BareMinerals Blemish Therapy. I have been using it for a little over month now and I'm seriously LOVING it.
BareMinerals Blemish Therapy retails for $18. I bought mine at Concepts in Cape.
BareMinerals website says "Conceal and prevent future breakouts with this targeted remedy and brush. The exfoliating properties of our 100% pure ActiveSoil Complex along with the blemish fighting benefits of natural sulfur effectively address blemishes while helping to prevent future breakouts from forming. This non-irritating formula also helps to minimize the appearance of pores, neutralize redness and diffuse imperfections."

So, first thought when I got this was "wow this smells horrible!" It's made with natural sulfur so it smells...well...like sulfur. Don't let that detract from this though. I started using mine the week before "Aunt Flow" was supposed to come visit. This is when I get my breakouts the worst. I get those really deep zits that don't easily pop. They hurt and are really sore too. As soon as I felt or saw where an ugly zit was going to rear it's head I put some of the Blemish Therapy on it. The next day I could tell a huge difference. It wasn't as big or red after a day of having the therapy on. I did this over the next couple weeks and surprisingly I didn't get a really bad sit this entire month! This for me is a win in my book. I always feel like I have a scab or a red spot from hormonal zits every month on my chin. Of course they take forever to heal so by the time one is gone another one rears it's ugly head. Blemish Therapy has really helped with making my chin look a whole heck of a lot better along with the creases around my nose and also the area between my eyebrows.

I love this product and HIGHLY recommend it if you are having issues with zits. This product is a face saver!

Happy Birthday G-Dub

Today is my brother-in-law Garrett's birthday!
Hope you have a wonderful day G-Dub!

First Ever Tasty Tuesday

Fried Egg Sandwich and Garlic Couscous

This recipe is seriously SO easy and it is perfect for:
1. Small meals
2. Serving for 2
3. Smaller kids that are picky

All you need is:
-bread
-eggs
-a white bowl (yes it has to be white or a really light color not pink though)
-garlic powder or garlic salt
-olive oil
-couscous
-vegetable oil

I put on the couscous first. It's super easy to make. You put 2 cups of water in a pot and then throw it in for 5 minuets and stir it a few times. After 5 min, take it off the stove and add seasoning. I added dried onion flakes, garlic powder and a little bit of olive oil. Yumm! Not to mention it reheats really easy and tastes just as good the 2nd or 3rd time around.
Next I fried my egg. Put the skillet on medium and put in some vegetable oil. (You can really use any oil. I just prefer vegetable). If you don't know how to fry an egg I would recommend checking out some videos on YouTube. They really do taste better than scrambled. The eggs that I used are super fresh. Meaning I got them from my friend Erica who's parent's have their own chickens in their back yard. They are delicious! A tip for making farm fresh eggs: break the egg into a white bowl before putting them in the black skillet. Some farm fresh eggs can be bloody. I know sounds delish right? Just toss that one out and get a new one.
Toast some bread, throw some garlic salt on your eggs, smother in butter if you wish and then DIG IN! Doesn't that look tasty? The fried egg on top is without the yolk busted. If you don't like the runny middle, pop the yolk while frying and you don't have the runny center. The one on the bottom isn't runny.
Enjoy!

Themed Days

So I'm going to start doing themes for each day. I think it will help me have something to blog about. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to do my picture dumps, family posts, and all those lovely random thoughts. No worries there. I just think if I have some themes for the day you all will know what to expect and will have something to look forward to. I have one disclaimer though. I can't promise I will post everyday about the speicific topic. It's just a guildline not a rule. I hope you all can enjoy some structure though. Enjoy!

So here is the game plan.

Monday
Made Up Mondays
I figure this will be a good way to start to week. I will either give tips, show new makeup reviews, try some new makeup and show you all how to use it, show different outfits, hair tutorials, nail polish reviews, etc. Anything fashion related will go. I figure this is a good time to answer questions too about makeup, clothes, hair, and more.

Tuesday
Tasty Tuesday
Tuesdays are all about food! I would like to share and receive recipes on these days. Everything from the uber-healthy to the down right fat goes straight to your butt recipes. There are no limitations here. I'm all for starting new things and cooking is one of those things. Haha. My husband is going to love this!

Wednesday
Does it Work Wednesday
Wednesdays are all about product reviews. Makeup, household products, you name it, I'll try it. I have one stipulation thought. NO Wrecking Balm Tattoo Remover. If you have a product you have been dying to try but are worried it won't work, look no further.  Just ask me! I will try anything at least once. Twice if I like it.

Thursday
Thrifty Thursday
Thursdays are all about saving some green. Tips and tricks for saving a buck or two. This includes local coupons available, good finds for cheap prices, and even some really great shopping finds that I got while shopping at local antique stores.

Friday
Friday Confessions
I love my Friday Confessions. I have to confess that it is a little litberaiting to be able to spill me guts to you all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. You accept me for everything that I am and I love you all for that.

So what do you all think? Does this make your blog reading ears perk? If you have ANY suggestions or ideas for posts that you would like to see let me know!

Just a side note: My coworker Jet from Sri Lanka is singing Taylor Swift and it's making me giggle.
