Picture Dump

I finally got a new camera!!! YAYAYAY! I'm so excited! Derek bought it for me as a early Birthday/Christmas/late Mothers Day present. I'm loving it so far and I need to learn how to get the light settings right and what not. Here is my picture dump for the day.
Isn't he the cutest thing ever?
This is by far one of my favorite pictures.
Stratton loves to be scared. Seriously, he thrives on being scared.

I love this picture of him. He looks so sweet an innocent. Key word being LOOKS.

Redneck water park: coolers and a water sprinkler.

 He doesn't seem to mind.

He loves his Aunt Casey and Uncle Marcus's kayaks.

More cooler fun. He was splashing SO much and screaming like a little girl.

Marshmallows were also part of the equation. He loves marshmallows.
It's funny watching him put the whole thing in his mouth and try to chew.

 He is such a cheeser.

Fruity Popsicle's are SO good in the summer time. Especially the creamy fruit ones.
Saturday after Stratton threw up all over himself we stopped by Bollinger Mill. Stratton was fascinated by all the old stuff.
This building is seriously SO neat.
This younger guy that the mill would seriously not leave us alone. It was SO annoying.
Don't mind the pasty white legs. They're there all year round no matter how much I go out in the sun.
I love this picture. He is so cute.
There was initials on there from Aug 25, 1918. That was SO long ago. It just makes you wonder who did it and where are now. I'm guessing probably not alive but you never know.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect for a day out. It was beautiful.
Stratton would look through the cracks and say "Oh no! I no fall!"
He was mad that I wouldn't let him go near the sides of the bridge so he wouldn't look at the camera for me.
Peeking in the window. It was hot a stuffy in that building.
Here Stratton is "smashin' spiders" haha. He never ceases to amaze me with the funny things he does.

Windy Roads are a NO GO

So, last weekend, as some of you may have known, Derek was in Nashville doing a show for work. Stratton and I had the house to ourselves! Which was AWESOME! I love getting to spend the extra time with him. Anywho, our friends Teresa, Todd and Kelly decided it was too nice out to be inside so we planned a trip to go to Castor River to swim for the day. Great idea...so I thought. I packed: a cooler with drinks (capri sun and water), snacks (string cheese and lunchables), Stratton's life jacket, extra clothes, towels, my GPS, my phone, my camera, and even some extra snacks to munch on the river. We met Teresa, Todd and Kelly at the Gordonville Grill and we were off. I drove separately because it's just easier with Stratton still being in a car seat. Stratton had my phone in the backseat with him like usual and then we started getting out on those country roads. You know the roads I'm talking about. The zig zaggy, up and down, windy roads that inevitably make even the most settled stomach turn upside down. Dumb me didn't even think about that fact on the way there. I thought I had everything so well planned out. It was supposed to be SO smooth and such a fun day. Boy was I wrong. We got about 20 min out and I noticed Stratton look up from my phone with this panicked look on his face. I quickly grabbed my phone and slowed down. But...it was too late. Right after I grabbed my phone, frosted mini wheats spewed from Stratton and all over his Minnie, down the front of him, all inside the car seat hardware, and all down his poor little chin. It was EVERYWHERE. I felt so bad. I kept telling him it was ok and that I would stop as soon as I could. Which wasn't until like 10 min later when I could finally get enough service to call Teresa and tell them to pull over. As soon as we stopped poor Stratton was so embarrassed. Teresa and Kelly came over to asses the situation and Stratton wouldn't even look at either one of them until he was all cleaned up. Once we got everything wiped off and thrown in the trunk we were off again. We only made it about 5 more minuets before Stratton started crying and saying that he needed to "choke" again. (I'm not sure why he called it choking, I guess because that's what he thought it felt like) This broke my heart so I pulled over and told them to go on without us. He was so scared and I'm sure still didn't feel great about throwing up from earlie. I wound up turning around and taking the road back VERY slowly. Even then he still had me stop every 5 minuets or so so his stomach could settle.

So, next time we know to remember 2 things.

1. make sure Stratton isn't playing on my phone on windy roads that will inevitably make him throw up
&
2. make sure we load him up on Dramamine before we leave so he gets knocked out and doesn't get sick

Monday Confessions

I confess I didn't do any cleaning this weekend...so, I am going to start on day 13 of 31 Days to Clean today.

I confess I took Friday off to spend the day with my little man. I really needed a good day with Stratton. He had such a great time.

I confess I chipped off the paint on my middle toe so I painted it a different color and went to work this morning. I didn't feel like taking off ALL of my toenail paint.

I confess after I read a book and finish it completely I mope around for a few hours because I really didn't want it to end.

I confess it was really nice to have Derek gone for a few days but it was even nicer when he came home.

I confess I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL FALL!!! I don't think I can emphasize that enough. I love fall and I'm getting so excited that it's right around the corner. I can't wait to start decorating my house for all the holidays!!!

I confess I have already started planning for Stratton's birthday party and it's not until early October.

I confess I dyed my hair Saturday night, hated it because it turned my ends black and the top brown, woke up Sunday morning, went and got it "fixed" (the girl was seriously an idiot and didn't listen to a word I said. Cut 4" off of my hair that I'm trying to grow out. Put platinum blond highlights in my hair after I told her I wanted it to be stripped and dyed with a lighter color. It looked like a had zebra hair.) So, I went home and dyed the high lights. I want to cry at this point. I'm having it stripped tomorrow to a lighter color thank the Lord. This black color does not suit me well. I hope my hair doesn't feel like straw when I'm done.

I confess that was my first and only rant for the day. I'm done now. :)

I confess I have a little something something up my sleeve once I finally get this 31 Days to Clean finished.

31 Days to Clean - Day 12

Day 12 - The Thing We All Have in Common - Imperfection

No matter how much you think a person is perfect...no one has it all together. Not even your super organized has everything in their proper spot sister that you've been wishing to be like.

She is not perfect, and neither are you. And that's ok!

"We have Jesus' perfection imparted to us for all of eternity if we know Him" - Hebrews 10:14

Isn't that a sigh of relief?!
So why get our panties in a wad over having everything together. Life is just a huge step of faith that we take one day at a time. We all try our best as we fight against a sin saturated world that pushes hard against us. Give yourself a break though. You're not alone in your struggles or your feelings of failure. We are all there! You don't have to be good enough. Your worth does not lie in your ability to clean well; your worth and value lie in Christ ALONE!

Mary Challenge:
Think about some areas in your life where you have been striving to be perfect (or near perfect). Perhaps you are comparing yourself to another mom, or putting unnecessary burdens on yourself because of what someone else has said or written. Take these areas before the throne of grace and ask God to replace and lies you are believing with the truth.

Martha Challenge:
Living Room - Clean and organize shelves and electronics. Shine wood furniture.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Leslie!!!

Day 11 Results

I have to be honest...

I have never washed my walls OR dusted my ceiling.

This was SO foreign to me. I took a warm wet washcloth and wiped down all my walls and then took a swiffer duster and dusted the ceiling. I also took my duster and dusted ALL of the pictures I have hanging in my living room. Trust me...there are A LOT of pictures hung up. I washed the walls the other day when I wasn't feeling good but of course I wasn't sure how well I did it so I went over it again yesterday to make sure I did it right. I didn't dust the ceiling the other day because I didn't feel well enough to. But, now it's done and I feel better. I'm glad I'm going back and taking my time on the days I had before. I feel like it's really clean now.

31 Days to Clean - Day 11

Day 11 - Limitations (Life is Hard)

I will be the first one to agree with the fact that Life is Hard. With all the running around, taking care of kiddos, emergencies, depression, etc. we are very limited to what we can do with our days.

Last night I was dead set on going to bed at 9:30 with Stratton, waking up at 6:30 to take a shower and doing my hair and make up, getting Stratton up, going to get breakfast, drop him off at the sitters, and go to work. This didn't happen. Stratton didn't want to go to bed until almost 11 and just stayed awake kicking the wall. Groucho kept trying to sleep on my face and to top it all off I had the worst gas cramps from dinner. It was well past midnight when I think I actually got my eyes closed for good and yet I was still woken up every hour of so by our dumb cat trying to get comfortable. Before I knew it 6:30am came and went and I didn't get out of bed until 7. I didn't get a shower, we didn't get to get breakfast, but I did manage to get to work a few min early. But the fact is...that's life and Life Happens. We need to recognize that we have limitations and we just need to accept them. The more we with fight with our limitations the more we bang our head against a wall that isn't moving.

If you are someone who is struggling with pregnancy, depression, chasing after little ones, balancing a job and home, etc. just do something that is productive. Clean your kitchen, make your bed, do some laundry, vacuum, or even just put some flowers on your dining room table. This will help with that depression and keep your house looking good.

Mary Challenge:
Let grace cover the areas you cannot change. Don't beat yourself up or think you aren't doing enough. God knows where you are at; His grace is sufficient.

Martha Challenge:
Living Room - Wash your walls and dust the ceilings.

Day 10 Results

Finally I feel like a normal person again! Yay!
Last night I cleaned the windows and blinds...again. I definitely could tell I wasn't feeling well when I cleaned the first time. I'm usually pretty OCD when I clean and my OCD was not kicking in that first time. Probably because I was too concerned about not throwing up instead of getting all the dust off of my windows and blinds. They look much better today and I can tell a little difference. I took a few pictures but you couldn't tell so I just opted not to post them. I hope everyone is having a good week so far. It's half way over!
